With 12 Piece Show Band
The Grand Hotel Mornington is proud to present the amazing “Leave Your Hat On” Friday September 2nd at 9pm. Saluting his iconic 50 plus year career full of extraordinary performances, ‘Leave Your Hat On’ is a red hot new 12 piece R & B show band honouring the late, great and truly unique Mr Joe Cocker.
Joe Cocker was a reggae-loving working class english rock blues and soul singer from Sheffield who rose to fame in the 1960s and sadly died in 2015 aged 72. He was known for his extremely powerful raw but sensual-sounding voice, his influential original songs, and his outstanding re-imaginings of other people’s songs, including several from the Beatles who loved him and said he could use any of their material he chose. Cocker’s incredible cover of “With a Little Help from My Friends” was first performed live at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and that brilliant performance together with the amazing “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” World Tour and subsequent hit movie etched his name forever in rock history.
The show will feature all those killer songs such as ‘Feelin’ Alright’,’Hitchcock Railway’,‘The Letter’, ‘Delta Lady’ ‘You Are So Beautiful’ ‘Unchain My Heart’ and of course the title of the show ‘You Can Leave Your Hat On’ to name only a few. Band members include Andy Burns (Madder Lake, Fats Wah Wah) on piano, Bob Spencer (Skyhooks, Angels) guitar, Jeff Barnes (Rocky Horror, Cats) drums, the crazy Mad Dog Horns, and the beautiful and soulful Delta Ladies, all backing the legendary NICCO GAZZANA out front. The band began in July 2015 one month after Joe’s passing and has played to rapt full houses ever since. This show will sell out fast folks so get in early and grab your tickets!
